Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island targets 48 million visitors annually

Yas Island is planning to attract 48 million visitors annually from 2022, after last year saw the tourist destination reach a landmark of 25 million visitors.
Mohammed Al Zaabi the CEO of Miral Asset Management, the developer behind Yas Island, said the island also plans to host 100,000 corporate travellers, be home to 10,000 residents and another 10,000 people will work on the island every day, by 2022.
Speaking at the launch of the new logo for Yas Island, Al Zaabi said: “We are always exploring new opportunities here in Yas Island.
“Our aim is to make it one of the 10 top destinations for family vacations in the world, we want to redefine leisure and entertainment.”
In 2018, the island plans to target 30 million visitors.
“The biggest example of our success is Ferrari World where we managed to make a theme park based on a car and now they are opening Ferrari Land in Spain,” he said.
“This shows that new ideas are great and we are always welcoming them.
“Miral is also encouraging more private investors to come and visit the island and explore opportunities here.”
He continued: “We are very excited to launch the new vision and believe the right time is now to take it to the next level where we are more attractive internationally.”
Al Zaabi also announced that Ferrari World will be adding two new roller coasters.
“You can see the construction going on outside the park for the new rides. One of them is called Turbo Track which will be iconic,” he said confidently.
“The second new ride is also a roller coaster which is a one of its kind in the world. This new ride will be ready by the end of 2016.”
