Dubai Beach Guide

Our guide to the top beaches in Dubai

The crystal clear waters of the Arabian Gulf are always in focus in Dubai, even from the soaring skyscrapers of Sheikh Zayed. Spend a full day in and out of the water on Kite Beach, get your selfie in front of Burj Al Arab or enjoy being pampered at one of the iconic beach clubs, which fringe the Palm Jumeirah. You’ll find that’s where the activity is at, too, from kite surfing and paddle boarding to running along the 14km green cushioned running track along Jumeirah Corniche. Sun, sand, blue skies and even bluer water – find the perfect beach for you.

Sunset Beach

For the quintessential ‘holding up the Burj Al Arab’ photograph, this spot will get you the best side of Dubai’s iconic hotel. The free beach is a perpetual hive of activity and one of the emirate’s most beautiful stretches of sand. As the only beach to get a decent swell during winter, it’s the go-to spot for local surfers. Head to nearby Surf House Dubai to rent a board and discuss the surf conditions over a coffee.

JBR Beach

The JBR Beach runs along the The Walk promenade with its juice bars, burger joints and gelato counters amongst fashionable boutiques and the fanciest cars in town. Stop by Adventure HQ to pick up an inflatable pool lounge before heading to the water.

Kite Beach

If the name didn’t already give it away, Dubai’s sportiest beach is a favourite with kite surfers. Get here for a spot of beach volleyball or try your balance at stand-up paddle-boarding and kayaking. There are plenty of non-aqua activities, including the newly opened Skate Park, an outdoor trampoline and a toddler-perfect park. Post-swim, make your way to one of many beach canteens. We recommend the famous Salt, a food cart style café serving up some of the best beef sliders in town.

Black Palace Beach

Also referred to as Palace Beach and sitting next to Dubai’s royal fortresses, this drive-up spot offers the calmest waters and most stunning sunsets featuring views of Palm Jumeirah.

Mamzar-Park

Al Mamzar Beach Park

For a small fee per person, this expansive park and beach, with lush barbecue areas, landscaped playgrounds, lagoons and a sheltered beach is perfect for a day out with the family.
For an extra cost, you can rent a sun lounge, use one of three pools, or even book a private, air-conditioned beach bungalow.

Hidden Beach

This charming bit of beach sits on the left-hand side of Sheraton JBR if you’re looking out to the ocean. Follow The Walk all the way to the south, go off the road to the right at the roundabout and continue driving or walking until you reach the beach. It’s the ideal area for docking your boat for a quick dip or a leisurely float without the crowds.
