New Year’s Wedding Resolutions

Read Contracts Twice

Contracts tie couples down legal to an agreement specially with vendors and suppliers. Before signing your contracts be sure to proof read them twice even the small print, to be certain you know exactly what’s outlined in the agreement. If there is anything that you would like explained further, or changed then don’t hesitate to ask the vendor. It’s important to receive everything in writing before you sign the dotted line.

Find a Balance

We know that you are planning possibly the most important day of your life, and if your anything like me you will want everything to be absolutely perfect. However you need to find a balance between every day life and your wedding planning, it’s so easy to lose grip and surround your self with wedding plans that you forget other duties or simply forget to enjoy yourself. Assign certain days or hours of the week to dedicate entirely to wedding planning, and others to your social life, work, and even well-being.

Keep Your Inner Bridezilla at Bay

No matter how exhausted or stressed you are, try to minimise the drama between your soon to be spouse, future in-laws, or even vendors. Staying calm and collected will ensure a more smooth wedding planning process as well as a happier bride. Sound impossible? here are a few steps to guide you through:

  • Practice your breathing, it is super important to take deep breaths while processing your feelings before reacting.
  • Count to 10 before you react, this would help maintain a positive relationship of communication versus negativity.
  • Think before you speak is a golden rule, it can actually do wonders for keeping conflicts at bay.

Keep Your Budget in Mind

We all get a little carried away sometimes, specially when we don’t keep track of our budget. Most brides tend to lose track when they decide to purchase their own wedding decorations, shopping around without keeping track of what you purchased can take its toll on your overall expenditure. So whether you are hiring suppliers or purchasing goods make it a goal to stick to your budget. Track your expenses, add up your receipts and keep an eye on your bottom line. As important as your wedding day is, nobody wants to be a broke bride (or newlywed).

Socialise More

Take the time to get to know your future in-laws more, family bonding will help build strong relationships in the future. Consider the idea of hosting annual holidays with your soon to be spouse, this way you can hit two birds with one stone as they say by letting both sides of the family officially meet. This is sure to score you extra brownie points with the soon to be husband/wife.

A Healthy Start

This one is a no brainer, health is everything. You don’t have to start a crazy strict diet or limit your self from certain activities (like the odd lazy day on the couch). Take this New Year as a chance to ditch your unhealthy habits, replacing them with healthier options. For example take up a sport, stop smoking (if you do), reduce your alcohol intake, ditch the car for long walks, or even add more greens into your diet. It has been scientifically proven that healthier people are the happiest from the inside and out. So forget about these extreme bridal diets, and over exhausting work outs, finding a healthy balance is all you need.
